Teen Tesla driver’s 116 mph speed caused fiery fatal crash, NTSB says

An 18-year-old Tesla driver lost control on a curve while doing 116 mph, which caused him to crash, which caused the car to burst into flames, killing both the driver and his passenger, also 18, the National Security Transportation Board says in its report into the tragedy. Contributing to the severity of the teens’ injuries, the NTSB said, was the fire ignited by the car’s crash-damaged lithium-ion traction battery.
