Host George Oliphant and his team of contractors and designers rescue the homes of deserving people, and in this special episode they come to the aid of the AHRC Fischer Day Center in Harlem, New York.
A Labor of Love
SilverLining was recommended to NBC show producers as a General Contractor to supervise and manage the renovation of two rooms at the AHRC Fischer Day Center in Harlem.
The Center is a family governed organization committed to finding ways for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to build full lives as defined by each person and supported by dedicated families, staff and community partners.
SilverLining, an organization dedicated to giving back wherever they can, partnered with subcontractors that they work with on their high-end residential construction projects, to secure donations of time, labor and materials from these subcontractors for the project.
Thankful for the Opportunity
SilverLining reached out to Renovation Angel co-founder Steve Feldman to see if he might have any kitchen cabinets in the RA inventory to replace the old cabinets in the center’s Multipurpose Room. Due to timing and inventory issues, Steve decided the best option was for RA to purchase brand new cabinets and arrange for their delivery to the center. Renovation Angel was more than happy to donate the cabinets to the AHRC, and appreciated the opportunity to participate in helping provide resources for this community.
SilverLining’s team included President, Josh Wiener, his Partner and Director of Operations, Joel Arencibia, a Project Manager, John Narvasa, a Site Superintendent, Earnest Fretwell , a painting crew and several laborers.
The project, which took about 4 weeks to complete, culminated in a big “reveal day” where both the center’s staff saw the newly renovated rooms for the first time. The episode of George to the Rescue premiered on September 22nd, 2018 on NBC in New York, but you can view the full episode online by clicking HERE now.
