Purchase pendant lights – The New York Occasions

Pendant lights bring light exactly where you need it. And they’re especially helpful in rooms where you don’t have cables for a ceiling light or space for a free-standing lamp.

“I love a swing arm,” says Heidi Caillier, an interior designer from Seattle. “They are really great for directed reading light and feel more subtle than a decorative lamp that takes up a lot of space.”

Ms. Caillier often installs two small ones on either side of the headboard in a bedroom or installs a single, large one in living and media rooms.

But no matter in which room, a large part of the appeal of the swivel arm lamp lies in its mobility.

“You can stow it away and then pull it out when you need it,” she said. And if you have children, she added, a pendant light eliminates “lamps on tables that children might bump and knock over.”
