ColourPop x Hocus Pocus Bother Brewing Tremendous Shock Shadow Trio Opinions & Samples

Troubleshooting

ColourPop Trouble Brewing Super Shock Shadow Trio ($ 15.00 for 0.21 oz.) Contains three cream powder eyeshadows in glittery metallic finishes. The colors can also be purchased individually on request. They were pigmented, mixable, and long-lasting with consistent performance with the brand’s Super Shock Shadows.

PS – All three of me had the same name (“To Be Young and Beautiful Again”), but the color names reflect what is shown on their website (based on the actual color!).

Forever adorable

Forever adorable is a medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and flecks of purple and purple that sparkle over a metallic finish. The texture felt smooth, was slightly emollient, but dried quickly to a powdery finish when applied to bare skin. It had a rich color release that was easy to apply to bare skin and stayed well for 10 hours with no precipitate over time.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that is available in a variety of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most gliding effect (they feel “wetter”), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade of ColourPop I’ve tried has been exceptionally long-lasting (over 10 hours of wear, usually there until I remove it, even 14 hours later). Pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.

Of the feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love it, but some don’t like it at all. They’re not a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they’re denser (more spongy) and are best applied to me with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249). The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I just felt that fingers are necessary on some shades (usually the super glitzy ones).

The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque coverage, although they are often buildable. The edges can be a little tricky to disperse, although some are very nice to work with.

The shimmery shades were the weakest for me as they can be more transparent or harder to apply. Sometimes they’re more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often they’re more sheer and just work well dabbed on more pigmented eyeshadow to add glitter. They do tend to have little fallout over time, however, with occasional hues having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most glitter powder eyeshadows).

Do you understand?

Do you understand? is a lighter, golden orange with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It had a single coat of opaque paint that was applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin with a fingertip or flat synthetic brush. The texture felt smooth, was spongy as expected from the formula, and turned powdery as soon as it came in contact with my lid. It has worn well for 10 hours, with slight fallout over time.

Be young and beautiful again

Be young and beautiful again is a medium-dark peach with warm, orange undertones and a metallic finish. It had a largely opaque, buildable pigmentation with a smooth, slightly emollient texture that was light, thin, but not prone to shear, and could be blended onto bare skin. This shade lasted a good nine and a half hours before fading a little.
