ColourPop Wave Breaker Tremendous Shock Shadow Duo check & pattern

ColourPop Wave Breaker Super Shock Shadow Duo ($ 12.00 for 0.07 oz.) Is a new cream and eye shadow duo that compliments the High Tides range. It contains Coconut, a Repromote, and Shore Thing, which is new (at least to me!). Both shades were pigmented, emollient, and fairly easy to work with, although coconut was a little softer than ideal.

coconut is a deep blue with subtle, cool undertones and a smooth, metallic finish. It had a near-opaque paint release in a single layer that was applied fairly evenly but was best applied and applied with a moderately dense shader brush. Once it dried to a more powdery finish, it could be faded out without getting a little blotchy (since the formula was a little too soft at first). It has worn well for 10 hours without fading or wrinkling.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that is available in a variety of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most gliding effect (they feel “wetter”), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade of ColourPop I’ve tried has been exceptionally long-lasting (over 10 hours of wear, usually there until I remove it, even 14 hours later). Pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.

Of the feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love it, but some don’t like it at all. They’re not a traditional cream eyeshadow because they’re denser (more spongy) and are best applied to me with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249). The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I just felt like fingers are required on some shades (usually the super glitzy ones).

The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque coverage, although they are often buildable. The edges can be a little tricky to disperse, although some are very nice to work with.

The shimmery shades were the weakest for me as they can be more transparent or harder to apply. Sometimes they’re more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often they’re more sheer and just work well on pigmented eyeshadow to add glitter. They do tend to have little fallout over time, however, with occasional hues having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most glitter powder eyeshadows).

Shore thing is a light, light petrol with subtle, cool undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, coupled with a smooth, moderately emollient consistency that felt creamy but quickly dried into a more powdery formula once it came in contact with my skin. It lasted a good 10 hours without fading or wrinkling.
