ColourPop Candy Roll Cheek Palette Score & Swatches

Sweet bun

ColourPop Sweet Roll 4-pan cheek pallet ($ 18.00 for 0.3 ounces) includes an off-white highlighter, a shimmering powder red, and two matte blushes: rich copper, gold shimmering rust red, matte plum, and matte auburn. They were pretty fair in terms of pigmentation; The blush was more buildable and hard to overdo, although it does pay off to appear on the skin.

I found the texture of the blush to be very smooth and finely ground, which didn’t seem to stick as well to my arm (which is quite dry) but worked well on my face (ultimately, where I test cheek products!). .

Avalon

Avalon is a light, medium copper with strong, warm undertones and a pearlescent sheen. It had opaque pigmentation when applied with a fingertip and a more buildable cover when applied with a brush like what is available in the market. The consistency felt pliable, smooth, and slightly spongy with a cream-powder formula that works well on both bare skin and foundation. It took a good 10 hours before it visibly faded.

Toffee cake

Toffee cake is a medium-dark red with warmer undertones and a fine pearl that gave it a more satin-like sheen when applied and faded out on my cheeks. The texture was soft, finely ground, and mixable without being too powdery – one of the least powdery colors in the range. It had mostly opaque pigmentation in a single layer so it was more pigmented than marketed, but it could be used with a lighter hand for more buildable coverage if desired. This shade showed signs of fading after eight and a half hours of wear.

Formula overview

$ 8.00 / 0.13 oz. – – $ 61.54 per ounce

The formula is said to go on “smoothly” and have a “natural and healthy blush” that has “long wear” and “can be layered to the desired intensity”. It is a light to moderately powdery powder red with a semi-transparent to semi-opaque, buildable color display. The consistency feels drier and thinner, and while it feels silky, I’ve found that the type of powder blush can be difficult to evenly distribute on the skin, depending on your skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin / base, the better the formula would blend, but natural oils or slip caused an uneven blush and were difficult to fade out. The wear and tear averaged between seven and eight hours for me.

Icing on top

Icing on top is a medium black, reddish plum with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a soft, slightly powdery consistency that felt finely ground and silky to the touch. The blush was applied evenly to bare skin and blended quite well especially for this type of finish and depth. It carried well for eight and a half hours before noticeably fading.

Sweet cinnamon

Sweet cinnamon is a rich burgundy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture wasn’t as finely ground as most of the colors in the quad range, and it affected the mixability on my cheeks. I would recommend applying this with a feathered brush, building up as desired, and then using a clean, larger powder red to spread and buff it up. The mix was mediocre, but the dryness of the blush was present on my skin.

I would be careful applying it to a more powdery / solid foundation as well, which seemed to exacerbate the problems. It had a semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted eight and a half hours before visibly fading.
