ColourPop Born to Blush Cheek Quad Evaluate & Swatches

Born to blush

ColourPop Born to Blush 4-Pan Cheek Palette ($ 18.00 for 0.3 oz.) Is a light-medium set of shades that includes a cream-to-powder highlighter, powder bronzer, and two powder blushes. The three powder products had a more buildable coverage, paired with slightly more powdery, thinner textures that worked best on matte or powdered skin. The highlighter works wonderfully both on bare skin and over the foundation.

In my experience, ColourPop’s powder blush formula has a really smooth, silky consistency that can be more powdery (which helps make it more buildable) at times accentuating the dryness of my skin. I found this to be true to varying degrees as they were a bit thin and flat and not always as effortless to apply as I would expect.

Camera shy

Camera shy is a light and light, golden peach with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was smooth, pliable, and almost wet to the touch, though it quickly turned powdery when I started dabbing and blending it on my skin. It had medium buildable pigmentation when applied with a synthetic brush and had a more semi-opaque to opaque coverage applied with the fingertip. It wore well for nine hours before it faded a little.

All feelings

All feelings is a light to medium brown with strong, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had medium color release in a single layer that could be built up to fuller coverage with two to three layers. The texture was soft, finely ground, and smooth, although it was also on the drier, thinner side, which in my opinion translates into an application best suited for drier / dull skin (e.g. powdered skin) or it can be sticky and difficult to fade out. It lasted a good eight hours before visibly fading.

ColourPop’s Pressed Powder Bronzer should have a “super velvety-soft” feeling that gives a “naturally tanned sheen”. No coverage was mentioned, but the brand’s promotional samples showed full coverage. The bronzers had a soft, silky texture that was slightly powdery in the pan but was easy to apply, blended well, and felt good against the skin. Most shades appeared to have a semi-matte to silky finish, which helped them slide on the skin and appear more natural (in the finish). The wear and tear ranged from eight to eight and a half hours on me.

Inner flush

Inner flush is a light-medium peach with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, slightly powdery and thin, but finely ground and smooth to the touch. The blush was applied fairly evenly to bare skin, but it responded better to all of the natural oils on my skin, so it was the easiest and most foolproof way to work it over powdered skin. It had medium buildable color coverage that was as marketed and lasted for a good eight hours on me.

Formula overview

$ 8.00 / 0.13 oz. – $ 61.54 per ounce

The formula is said to be “soft” and to have a “natural and healthy flush” that has a “long shelf life” and “can be layered to your desired intensity”. It is a light to moderately powdery powder blush with a semi-transparent to semi-opaque, buildable color gradient. The consistency feels drier, thinner, and while it feels silky, I found that it can be difficult to evenly distribute the type of powder blush on the skin, depending on your skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin / base, the better the formula would blend, but natural oils or slips made the blush remain uneven and difficult to blend. The average wearing time for me was between seven and eight hours.

Lil Bashful

Lil Bashful is a medium-dark pink coral with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a medium buildable paint release that stuck to bare skin pretty well, but could be more miscible as it was prone to sticking where it was originally applied. The technique I use for this shade, along with others from the series, is to use a small product and a very feathery brush and pat it in gently, then repeat with the next area, slightly overlapping. This results in less diffusion / propagation having to be performed. It has been wearing well for eight hours before showing signs of wear.
