7 Tips for Clear Skin This Holiday Season

You’ve spent the past year focusing on your skin, so don’t let the hectic holiday season put an end to your clear complexion. Just follow our 7 easy tips for clear skin and you’ll be sure to have a fresh face through the new year!

Drink Water

This will benefit so much more than just your skin, which is why it’s #1. You’ll likely be eating and drinking to the fullest and we don’t blame you- we’re all about balance when it comes to enjoying yourself. But adding in some extra H2O will help your body and skin flush out any extra toxins you consume.

Wash Your Face

This should be part of your routine already but it’s even more important in the height of late night parties. We wouldn’t blame you if you skipped out on your 12 step routine before falling into bed, but if you’re trying to keep a clear complexion this holiday season, you need to wash your makeup off every night.

Lightweight Makeup

Speaking of makeup, try using products that won’t interfere with all of the skin positive habits you’re working on. Foundations that are lightweight and buildable, like our new HD Mineral Foundation Stick, are a great option during the holiday season because they allow you to determine your coverage level. Maybe you don’t need a full face of foundation to run a quick errand- or maybe you do, we don’t judge. Just make sure you’re using a product that will help, not hurt your skin.

Don’t Stress

Stress makes everything worse. Whether you’re stressing about end of year deadlines or that family dinner you’ve been tasked with hosting, being stressed out and not getting enough sleep will take its toll on your face. Try and take a moment to yourself each day to regroup and relax. And remember to prioritize the tasks that are truly important.

Overnight Masks

When you sleep, your skin is able to regenerate and repair itself, so why not give it an added boost to help speed the process along? We love sleeping masks, especially during the winter, because they’re packed with nutrients and offer intense hydration to help soothe dull, dry skin. Try Restorative Mask to deeply moisturizer, or Soothing Gel Mask to calm redness or irritation.

Chemical Exfoliants

There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of a physical exfoliant (read: scrub) but it can be a little harsh if your skin is already dry and flaky from the brisk winter air. If you’re looking for a way to get a youthful glo from the inside out, you need to try a chemical exfoliant. Chemical exfoliants work by sloughing off dead skin cells to reveal smooth, clear, younger looking skin. Our favorites? Glycolic Resurfacing Toner for the aggressive yet insanely effective route, or Gentle Enzyme Exfoliant, for those that prefer to dip their toes in the chemical exfoliant waters.

Travel With Your Routine

It can be easy to let your skincare routine fall to the wayside when you’re travelling, especially if you’re trying to fit your entire 12 step routine into 3 oz. bottles but trust us when we say that sticking to your routine is important! Even if you have to pair it down a bit, this will be much better for your skin than if you leave all of your products at home. Pro tip: purchase your favorite Glo products in easy to travel with kits!
