We Have This Thing For Plates

Plates on the wall! Do you have plates hanging somewhere in your home? Maybe even, not in the kitchen? Some dishes are just as beautiful as artwork, and we love how they tell a story and add depth to a space. In our clients’ guestroom we hung antique plates over their guest beds. This house, owned by Holly and Tom Forney (of Forney Construction), was actually featured in the Houston Chronicle last year – click here for the full article by Diane Cowen.

Do you have plates that you love that you never use? Consider hanging them. You can get plate hangers at your local hardware store in a wide range of sizes. We suggest hanging at least three in a grouping, and they don’t have to necessarily be from the same set but they should coordinate. We like to hang plates over windows to draw your high up and make the ceilings seem higher.

Let’s be honest – we’re terrible at photographing client projects and our own homes. So even though we have plates hanging all over, we don’t have many of our own photos. Here are a few we rounded up from Pinterest to share for inspiration! PS – if hanging things yourself seems daunting, we found an excellent handyman/hanger through TaskRabbit. He is reliable, trustworthy, brings his own tools, and very reasonable hourly rate. Tell Juan we sent you! Juan – 832.343.1070
